Peace in the Midst of the Storm

Dear God,

I pray that you use me as your vessel to touch the hearts and spirits of those who come in contact with this message. I pray that as the thunders roar they will shout your name, God, because we know that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Father God, we will seek you in the good and the bad days.. Your hope will be an anchor to our souls. I pray that each person who endures a storm will hold steadfast to your word and your promises- Dear God let your calmness fill their hearts! Amen

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you" -Isaiah 41:13

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" -Romans 15:13

It's no secret that we have all had our fair share of trials and tribulations, mistakes and tragedies. Some are blessed to experience less of them while others feel they couldn't have been dealt a more unlucky hand of cards to play out this game of life. Ever heard the saying, "God gives his greatest battles to his strongest soldiers"? I can't recall how many times I found myself thinking, "well then, God, when is it my turn to drop back from the line of fire- because I don't think I'm as strong as you think." And that thought in itself is exactly what the enemy wants- He wants nothing more than for us to feel weak, hopeless and vulnerable. God will not cause us pain, but he will use it. All he asks is that we call out to Him and refresh ourselves in his everlasting promises.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." -1 Peter 5:6-7

Let his word wash away your anxiety and fear, in turn filling you with his peace and comfort. No matter what it may be that you've gone through in the past whether it was being bullied, a broken heart, divorce in the family, failure, addiction, abuse, tragic loss, etc. In the present of that experience it feels like something you will never get through- the weight is too heavy, the pain is too much- and you're wondering "why me". Now, take a step aside, a moment to reminisce and look at who you are now, how far you've come and how much you've grown. God is so good! We may not see the light at the end of the tunnel or the purpose for the pain while we're standing in the midst of the storm but once we get to the top of the mountain, God will have done something mighty through you on your climb up.

I'm a firm believer everything happens for a reason and God truly does have a purpose for everything we endure. With God on our side we will conquer. He has given us that promise and there is faith in that. No matter what I go through, I always find a sense of peace in knowing that God's plans are greater than my plans. Just because our season of planning isn't going as we want it doesn't mean God's will isn't taking place. When you have that mindset, no earthly circumstance can determine the quality of your life. Awareness of Gods presence can infuse joy into our darkest days! Next thing you know, you're no longer in the battlefield but resting in the peace of knowing you're under the Almighty's wings.

You've found the calm in the midst of the storm.

"I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world." -‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬
